This site was started in connection with the Yahoo Group by the same name. The posts here are often a compilation of the information posted by members to the Visit Xalapa Yahoo Group. Some of the group members are expats who live in Xalapa or the surrounding areas.
Stephen Silversard (creator of the VX Yahoo Group) and his wife Pat have traveled a lot in Mexico and are considering retiring there within the next couple of years. They arrived in Xalapa at the end of January 2008 and will be there until March. Stephen, The Genuine Tourist, runs a couple of Yahoo groups on Mexico, and in early November 2006 started a third one on Xalapa.
Marie McC is a single woman starting to think about where she wants to be when she retires in ten years. Mexico is looking good to her. She came to Xalapa for a visit in February 2008 and joined Steve and Pat in several of their adventures. Her blog, The Road to Veracruz, documents her travels in Veracruz City, some of the small pueblos in the area and also in Xalapa and its surrounding communities.
With similar interests, Stephen and Marie bumped into each other on a Mexico forum. He invited her to co-moderate the Visit Xalapa Yahoo Group, and together they decided to create a sister site where they could organize and share resources on Xalapa and the environs.
